Our family owned vineyard is located 75kms south of Adelaide, in the cool maritime climate of South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, known as the Currency Creek wine region. The first vines were planted in 1999, and includes Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Over the years to combat South Australia’s dry summer periods, major infrastructure works have taken place to help drought proof the vineyard, and provide a system of underground irrigation. With the cooler maritime climate providing perfect growing conditions, coupled with the abundance of water, and our philosophy of small batch production, our vineyard produces consistently high quality wines that display bold fruit and characterise the terroir of the vineyard.
Our passion for wine was sparked by our parents long ago, and in early 2014, the perfect opportunity arose for us to follow their combined passion, and we took the plunge and bought the Finniss River Vineyard.
Re-enforcing the families decision to buy the vineyard, Finniss River Vineyard has been receiving accolades and awards, both national and international, culminating in the 2015 Shiraz winning Gold at the 2016 Royal Adelaide Wine Show.
The family vision has seen our Cellar Door recently relocated to the vineyard from Christies Beach. As well as stunning views of the vineyard, we offer a unique experience from small intimate tastings through to larger groups, or just to sit down and enjoy a relaxing glass of wine and a cheese plate.
The next stage of our evolution, will see a function centre at the vineyard, with its rural setting, stunning views of the vineyard and the Finniss River, making it an ideal location.
